About the Member Application

Selecting your Membership Level

Single individuals

Choose the Member, Regular setting.

Couples

If you have separate email addresses, we recommend signing up separately.  The first member to sign up selects the Member, Regular setting.  The second selects the Member, Second in Household setting.  When using the Member, Second in Household setting, the next screen will prompt for the Primary Household Member – the first member of the couple.  This is the preferred way for couples to sign up, because each member of the couple will have a distinct profile and eight surnames for the Surnames page.

If you share an email address, use the Members, Couple with Shared Email Address setting.  This sign up method will restrict both members of the couple to a single, shared profile.  Enter both your names in the First Name field (e.g., “Bill and Sue”).  This method of couple entry is less advantageous for you, because you will not be able to enter separate profile information, and will share the eight surnames on your common profile.  There is no cost difference between the couple entry methods.

Completing the Profile

Required fields are indicated by bold text and an asterisk (*).  We encourage you to submit a complete application, but you can add more information or edit your profile at any time using View Profile, Edit Profile after you have completed your initial application.

The Privacy of Your Account

Member Directory

By default, your contact information - name, address, email address, and telephone number – along with the information in the Personal Information section of the Membership Application, will be available to other members in the Member Directory.  The Member Directory is one of your CAGG-NI membership benefits; it permits you to contact others in CAGG-NI who are doing like research.  The Member Directory resides behind the Member firewall and is NOT available to non-members.  If, however, you wish to block any information from view in the Member Directory, you can do so.  Select View Profile near the login box, then in the My Profile  page select Access By Others and set any fields you do not wish to appear in the Member Directory to No Access.  You can view your entry in the Member Directory to see how it appears when you have completed modifying the access settings to each field.

For Internal Use Only fields

The fields in this section help CAGG-NI target its offerings.  This information does not appear in the Member Directory.

Surnames

The Surnames entries are the only entries in your Member Application that are available to the general public.  See the About Surnames page for more complete information on Surnames entry.
