    Compiling Your Medical Family Tree
    Marsha Peterson-Maass

Compiling your Medical Family Tree might be easier than you think --- in fact most genealogists are surprised to discover that they already possess most of the skills and possibly even the records necessary to do so!  This lively talk will give you an understanding of what's crucial in compiling a MFT chart and Predispostion Results Sheet plus explaining the tools and computerized resources you'll want to use.  This could be one of the most valuable gifts of "family" information you ever give to yourself, your children, and other relatives.

Marsha will also be selling her "Medical Family Tree Workbook: The simple way to compile and understand your family health history" and other textbooks at the lecture for the discounted price of $20 (retail price $24.99).

Ancestral Quest and Personal Ancestral File users!

Personal Ancestral File (PAF) is a free genealogy and family history program. PAF allows you to quickly and easily collect, organize and share your family history and genealogy information.

Ancestral Quest family tree software has been around for years, but still does an excellent job keeping up with the needs of genealogists and family historians. The powerful source citation and search tools are a definite plus, while unique Web collaboration makes it easy for multiple researchers to view and update a single master file via the Internet. Ancestral Quest is a well-rounded program for all genealogists, but an especially good choice for PAF users looking for additional features.

Meetings are Q & A style, open forum. Bring your questions!

    See you there!

Breaking Down a Brickwall: How I Found the Marriage Record of My Irish Great-Great Grandparents - Nancy R. Thomas

This case study explores how listening to family stories can lead your research from known facts to the unknown. Using newspapers, census records, church records, online indexes, and maps can result in the breaking down of a major brick wall.

    Biographical info:

Nancy R. Thomas is currently the President of the DuPage County Genealogical Society, a position she also held 29 years ago. A retired Professor/Reference Librarian at the College of DuPage, Nancy has been searching for her ancestors and her husband's for over 30 years. She recently published The Roeser Family: Ancestors and Descendants for a family reunion using Family Tree Maker 2010 software. A recent trip to the British Isles provided a chance to visit with a second cousin of her husband's, who lives in England, and exchange pedigree charts. Nancy and her husband have three daughters and four grandchildren.
